Norwegian authorities have now readjusted the number of missing Norwegians
to 462 and as time passes, the chances of finding them alive are very slim,
stated Bondevik.
«As time passes, the hope is diminishing,» Bondevik said to TV 2. «We have
to be prepared that the number of deceased Norwegians will increase
significantly.»
A total of 21 Norwegians have been confirmed dead.
The task of updating the Norwegian list of missing and deceased has now been
handed over to the police. If and when these lists will be made public
remains unknown.
«We do not think it’s right to release complete lists if the families do not
want the names published,» Bondevik stated.
The official death toll after the tidal wave disaster increased dramatically
Thursday, and as of Friday morning more than 125,000 have been found dead,
but thousands are still missing.
Millions are now struggling to find food and clean water, and the threat of
epidemics taking even more lives is significant.
