3 of 10 politicians have been threatened

Sist oppdatert:
Three of ten members of the Norwegian parliament have received threats against their person or members of their family.

The security will now be improved, according to the Norwegian daily Aftenposten.

A survey conducted by the paper has disclosed that politicians from the Progress Party (Frp) receive the largest numbers of threats, particularly after appearing on television. One politician has been attacked with a knife, while several have been physically attacked.

As of next year, all visitors to the Storting building will have to go through the same security check as travellers at Gardermoen, Oslo’s international airport.

101 members of Parliament have answered Aftenposten’s survey about harassment, violence, and threats. 50 percent of the surveyed individuals answered that they have experienced harassment. Eight politicians state that they or members of their family have been victims of violence.

Many have asked for police protection, violence alarm and bullet proof vests.
