Devold releases salary report
Minister of Defense, Krohn Devold, received massive criticism at Stortinget when she yesterday insisted that the report regarding income explosion in the Norwegian military was an internal report only.
The oppositional parties demanded access to the report, and the leader for the defense committee, Labor politician Marit Nybakk, stated that the committee would demand access.
According to the Ministry of Defense, Kristin Krohn Devold decided to make a complete turnaround yesterday evening, and she contacted Nybakk yesterday evening and promised to release the report.
«The report was sent with a messager this morning to Stortingets defense committee in ten copies so that all the members could read it at the same time,» said Rolf Kjos, deputy director, to TV 2 Nettavisen.
The Ministry of Defense also published the report on the Internet, but Socialist Left representative Kjetil Bjørklund said he is dissatisfied that the last chapters are removed.
«The report that is published on the web is not complete according to the table of contents,» Bjørklund said to TV 2 Nettavisen. «Several of the last chapters have been cut.»
He claims that the entire report should be released, also on the Internet.
Krohn Devold stated at the questioning at Stortinget yesterday that the salary explosion was to a large degree due to increased salary expenditures to commanding officers.
Peter A. Moe, leader of Norges Offiserforbund (Norways officers association) went as far as calling the Defense Ministers statement a plain lie.
«She blames both the Chief of Defense and the agreement for officers, and both these accusations are direct exclusion of liability,» Moe said to TV 2 Nettavisen.
