Mette-Marit to Africa

Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway travels to Africa after New Year’s. According to the magazine Se og Hør, she is going to visit HIV and AIDS projects in Malawi.

The Crown Princess and her husband Crown Prince Haakon have just returned from an official trip to Thailand, but Mette-Marit will soon again leave for another official trip. This will be her first official international travel alone.

Malawi is the country in Africa which is hit the hardest by AIDS and HIV. About half a million children were infected by the virus in 2003.

According to the magazine, the Crown Princess will visit Malawi for six days. The Royal Court will not confirm the Crown Princess’ visit to Africa because it is never commented on visits abroad so far in advance.
