«Portsmouth would be a step down»

Norwegian footballer Andre Bergdølmo signed a contract with Borussia Dortmund within hours on Wednesday afternoon. «Portsmouth would be a step down», said Bergdølmo.

Bergdølmo was on his way to Portsmouth but changed his mind and signed a contract with German club Borussia Dortmund instead.

Bergdølmo has never played for a club lower down than number six and will probably stay on top with Dortmund this season.

Midfield alternative

«They have some long term injuries and needed a new player. I will primarily be used on the midfield but the manager said he liked the fact that I was interested in other positions as well. I am very happy with the contract. This is no step down in my career, but Portsmouth would be a step down», said Bergdølmo.

Bergdølmo joined his first training session with the team on Thursday. On Friday the manager will decide whether he ill be part of the line-up against Wolfsburg.

«The training on Thursday was easy. I am being tested to see if I will get to join the team against Wolfsburg. I have been training as much as the other players n the team so there should not be anything wrong physically», said Bergdølmo.

Two-year contract

Asked whether he was in tough with Jan Derek Sørensen before signing the contract, Bergdølmo said: «No, it all happened very fast but I will get in touch with him».

Bergdølmo signed a two-year contract and the price is said to be NOK 5 million.
