Thor Hushovd kjempet seg inn til en 6.-plass under sykkelrittet Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne søndag. Sterk vind, lave temperaturer og regn skapte trøbbel for syklistene, og mange fikk det tøft.

Nordmannen var en av de som taklet forholdene godt, og dro en periode hovedfeltet, før han sammen med lagkamerat Jeremy Hunt og Hayden Roulston fra HTC tok opp jakten på teten.

Rundt 13 kilometer før slutt gikk Hushovd imidlertid tom for krefter, og måtte til slutt altså ta til takke med å bli nummer seks. Han kom i mål rundt tre minutter bak vinneren.

- Dette er det verste jeg har vært med på. Jeg tenkte flere ganger på å bryte, men føler at jeg er i rute til klassikerne som kommer senere, forteller Hushovd om løpet til TV 2.

Bobby Traksel fra Vacansoleil-laget vant løpet, mens Rick Flens (Rabobank) og Ian Stannard (Team Sky) fulgte på de neste plassene. Trioen hadde gått i brudd og holdt helt inn til mål.
