The girl allegedly stepped into the cab at Carl Berners plass in Oslo, early Sunday morning, November 24, 2002. She has been out partying, and when the taxi approached Ullevål hageby, the driver stopped and forced her to have sex with him because she was unable to pay for the ride. Then he drove her home, according to the paper Dagbladet.
Director General of Public Prosecutions Tor-Aksel Busch ordered that the charge against the taxi driver filed. Chief Public Prosecutor Lasse Qvigstad has been listed as prosecutor in the case scheduled to start in Oslo county court in March.
According to the paper, the taxi driver is of foreign origin. He is charged in accordance to the rape paragraph in the criminal code, and he may face up to 10 years in jail.
The man’s lawyer Halvard Helle of Advokatfirmaet Staff stated that the driver pleads not guilty.
Atle Odd Hovden, the counsel of the victim, will request damages for non-economic loss and compensation.
Glenn Tuxen, head of Oslo Taxi, informs that the driver has gotten his driving permit revoked, and if the man is convicted he will never work for the company again.
