Norwegians say no to the Olympics

The Norwegian people have spoken; as many as 49 percent said Norway should not apply for the Olympics in 2014.

38 percent claim Norway should not apply for the Olympics in ten years, according to a survey conducted by Opinion on behalf of the Norwegian daily Aftenposten. 13 percent of the people surveyed had no opinion on the matter.

Even if Norway would apply for the Olympics in 2014, only 25 percent of Norwegians think Norway would actually get the event. As many as 58 percent do not believe Norway would get the event even if Norway did apply.

There are regional differences between northern Norway and the capital. In northern Norway 57 percent think that Tromsø should apply, while in Oslo and Akershus only 29 percent support the idea.
