"Lindh murder suspect is mentally ill"
This conclusion was reached by Kerstin Laurén-Stensåsen, chief physician, after she conducted a so called paragraph 7 examination of the 24-year-old Mijailo Mijailovic.
Anna Lindh was murdered at NK shopping mall in down town Stockholm September 10.
Looking for help
The examination was conducted in order to decide if the suspect suffers from a serious mental illness, and if he should undergo a more extensive psychological examination.
This is a man who has been looking for help, said Laurén-Stensåsen to the Swedish paper Aftonbladet.
Some of the people you meet can be very aggressive and physical, while others refuse to answer questions. That is not the case here. He has been very obliging and answered all questions, Laurén-Stensåsen added.
She said that she has become critical of the Swedish health services after studying the 24-year-olds files.
His latest sentence was supervision with the requirement that he was going to have contact with a psychiatrist, but it was not carried through. Furthermore, he reached out for psychiatric help both before and after the murder, Laurén-Stensåsen stated.
She describes the 24-year-old as verbal and rather easy to talk with.
