Anna Lindh suspect could be innocent

(Svensk politi)
The jailed 35-year-old who is suspected of killing the Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh might not be the man caught on the surveillance tapes, according to a central police source.

However, the police could have made a breakthrough in the hunt for Lindh’s killer, and new arrest may be forthcoming shortly, according to the Wednesday edition of Swedish paper Expressen.

The 35-year-old has always proclaimed his innocence, and the proof against him has been insufficient. The police’s main theory has been that he is identical to the man who was filmed at the mall NK around the time of the murder.

“We know now that the 35-year-old is not the person in the pictures. It has been established,” said the police source to the paper.

The police have not managed to connect the arrested 35-year-old to the murder either through technical evidence, questioning or other investigations.

“There are no longer any evidences that indicate his guilt,” said a source.

Expressen has been informed that the 35-year-old will be released soon and that the murder suspicion will be removed. The paper also claims that there has been another breakthrough in the case and an arrest will be made shortly.
