Complete close down at Gardermoen

All traffic at the airports Gardermoen and Torp have stopped after the air traffic controllers at the control post at Røyken reported sick in protest Monday afternoon.

Jo Kobro, head of information at Oslo Airport Gardermoen, confirmed that situation to TV 2 Nettavisen.

«The air traffic has been stopped because the air room over southern Norway is closed,» Kobro said. «It is closed because the air traffic controllers at the control post in Røyken have reported sick.»

According to Kobro, the ATCs reported sick with immediate effect at 10:45 a.m. Monday when they were informed that the Avinor management had selected Sola airport outside Stavanger as the location of control post south.

The decision will be adopted by Avinor October 6 and that means that the Røyken post will be closed down.

Kobro recommends that all travellers who plan to travel from or to Gardermoen Monday contact their airline company.

«They have to contact the airlines and they have to relate to them right now,» Kobro said. «We will keep the airlines informed about the development.»

Kobro said that he had no way of knowing how long it would take before the conflict was resolved.

People at the airport TV 2 Nettavisen talked to had just been informed that that the airport was closed to due to strike and more information would be given later.
