Norway is hosting the donor country conference for Sudan in March of next year.
The announcement was made by a spokesperson for the Arab League Monday, according to the news agency AFP. The announcement was made after a Norwegian foreign affairs delegation met with Amr Mussa, secretary general of the Arab League.
Minister of International Development Hilde Frafjord Johnson has previously stated that Norway was willing to hold such a conference.
Sudan is one of the worlds poorest countries, and according to numbers provided by the United Nations, more than 70,000 people have died in the Darfur region since February 2003.
