Main argument for deporting Krekar dropped
Mullah Krekar was investigated by the specialty branch investigating economic and environmental crime because of the possiblity that his alleged actions may be classified as a threat to national security.
This indicates that Erna Solberg wish to deport Krekar is only based on using his safety as a chess piece in a political game. He has never been a treat against Norway. The whole thing has been a political charade, stated Brynjar Meling, Krekars lawyer, to TV 2 Nettavisen.
No threat
Mullah Krekar has prior to this been charged in accordance to paragraph 104a in the Norwegian criminal code for the organizing of or participation in private military organizations. Økokrim dropped the case due to insufficient evidence. The decision has now been changed to no case to answer.
It was paragraph 104a that was Minister Erna Solberg main argument for deporting Mullah Krekar. He was viewed as a threat to national security.
No evidence
Furthermore, Økokrim claims that there is no evidence that Mullah Krekar ever urged Muslims to hit American interests in Norway, and admits, according to information provided TV 2 Nettavisen, that there is no evidence that Mullah Krekar has encouraged people carry through suicide bombings in accordance to the terror paragraph, after the paragraph took effect.
However, Økokrim still maintains the decision to drop the case due to insufficient evidence.
In my opinion Minister Erna Solberg has used this case to prove that she is efficient in immigration cases, Meling said.
