Man convicted of throwing snowballs

Sist oppdatert:
Apparently, throwing snowballs is far from harmless, and it may be expensive too. At least that was the case for the man convicted of throwing snowballs at the US embassy in Oslo.

A 34-year-old man has to pay a NOK 5000 (USD 700) fine, in addition to paying NOK 2000 (USD 285) in court costs, after he was found guilty of attacking the American embassy in Oslo with snowballs while he was under influence of alcohol.

Threw at the guards
According to the formal complaint filed on the man, the man threw snowballs on the guards outside the embassy, the building and on the police’s guard station. Furthermore, he tried to climb over the fence and onto the embassy area. The incident occurred Saturday February 14, 2003 at 3.30 a.m. outside the American embassy, Drammensveien 18, Oslo.

Oslo county court claim the man disturbed the peace.

The court viewed the incident as aggravating since the man had twice before been fined similar incidents.
