Norwegian authorities are not satisfied with the amount of fruit school children eat, and the authorities are now using tax money to improve Norwegian eating habits.

Children and youth eat less than half as much fruit and vegetables as health experts recommend, according to the Directorate of Health and Social Affairs.

In order to improve young people’s eating habits, the government is now planning to use NOK 20 million (USD 3.11 million) to, among other things, expand on the fruit subscription arrangement in schools.

The price of the school fruit subscription is NOK 12.50 (USD 1.94) per week per student. The subscription include one piece of fruit a day.
