New breathalyser tests fall apart
Yes, only in Oppland have we already replaced about 20 breathalyser tests since we got them in October, said Sverre Borge, head of Utrykningspolitiet in Oppland to the Norwegian television channel NRK. There have in general been a lot of error messages from our officers in the field.
The Norwegian police bought the new breathalyser tests for NOK 4 million (USD 597,000) in October. A large number of them have broken down after just three months. Many error messages allegedly appear at the large controls when many people blow in the breathalyser tests.
The manufacturer has not experienced this before either, but there is probably connected with the fact that Norway is about the only country in Europe which stops all the cars in some controls, Borge said.
The British manufacturer claims it has found the error and all of the breathalysers will therefore most likely be replaced.
