In the third quarter, the Norwegian consumption of liquor increased with almost 500,000 litres. Norwegians also drink more wine coolers and wine than earlier.
The beer consumption is on the other hand declining
Norwegians consumed 477,000 litres more liquor in July, August and September this year than of last year, an increase of 22.3 percent.
According to numbers presented by Statistics Norway, if measured in pure alcohol, the registered consumption increased with 188,000 litres.
Wine coolers appears to be something that here to stay. The consumption of fruit drinks with alcohol increased with 2.4 million litres in the third quarter compared with the same period last year. During the nine first months the consumption of wine coolers increased with 9.7 million litres.
Norwegians also drink more wine. Norwegians consumed as much as an additional 639,000 litres in the third quarter compared to last year, a registered increase of 4.9 percent.
However, the beer consumption is decreasing. Compared with the third quarter last year, the beer consumption sank with 972,000 litres this year. The first nine months of this year, the beer consumption fell with 5.5 percent.
Measured in pure alcohol, every inhabitant in Norway over the age of 14 drank 4.36 litres alcohol during the first nine months this year, an increase of 0.16 percent from the year before.
