Norwegian students below median

Norway has little to cheer about, according to the PISA survey compiled by Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.

The Program for International Student Assessment survey presented Monday, lists Norway towards the bottom of the 31 nations surveyed.

PISA has surveyed the knowledge level of 15-year-olds in selected nations across the world.

In math, Norway falls from a 17th place in 2001, to a 19th place this year. The fall is even greater in natural science where Norway was listed on a 13th place in 2001, but has now fallen off the list of the 20 best, reported the Norwegian news bureau. Norway has not much to brag about when it comes to students’ ability to solve problems either as Norway did not make the top 20 on this list.

The only positive thing for Norway is that the reading ability has improved from a 13th place to tenth place.

Finland is ranked the best country as it is listed in the top of all of the three main categories.
