“Young men sits at home alone masturbating,” said Willy Pedersen, professor of sociology.

Kissing, cuddling, hugging and caressing are actually more important for men then for women. According to the newspaper Aftenposten, these things are activities that give men a high degree of satisfaction and it is things they miss.

“This is surprising and completely new. It is hard to determine the reason why, but it may be that women have a better ability to take advantage of the entire range of feelings and activities,” said Pedersen who has conducted the research.

2700 young men and women have been questioned over a time span of seven years, from the time they were in their teens until they were well into their 20s. 84 percent of the women and 74 percent of the men says they are “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with their sex life, while 10 to 15 percent were “definitely” or “somewhat” unsatisfied.

The survey also reviles that the differences between the genders have increased. Women loose their virginity, get a boyfriend and moves in with their lover earlier than their male counterparts.

The people who have had several sexual partners where most content, but the people who are sexually active without a steady partner are the least satisfied. 17.8 percent had not had a sex partner during the last year and were therefore not asked how satisfied they were.

“The women have changed a lot in these areas the last ten years. The thing that causes worry is young men’s development. If you put it on the edge, we can say that they are sitting at home alone and masturbating while the young women walks out into the world and exercises their new, free sexuality,” Pedersen said to Aftenposten.
