Plans for a Norwegian «Hollywood»

The old factory warehouses in Arna outside Bergen may become the location of Norway’s largest film studio if investor Espen Galtung Døsvig gets what he wants.

The film studio will then be more than 20,000 square metres, according to the local paper Bergensavisen. Vestnorsk Filmsenter, Sparebanken Vest and the film company Fuzz are positive to the plans.

The goal is to create a Norwegian «Hollywood» according to the blueprints of «Trollywood,» the large Swedish «Film i Väst» at Trollhättan. It was at «Trollywood» that Lars Von Trier filmed films like «Dogville,» «Manderlay,» and «Dancer in the dark.»

The film investors at Fuzz hope to get Bergen eight film productions annually.

According to the paper, TV 2 is also positive to the plans as the television channel does not have much studio capacity.
