Prime Minister's companions denied visa to Norway

The Punjabi Prime Minister was refused a visa to celebrate the Pakistani national day in Oslo, as Norwegian authorities feared the bureaucrats in his party would stay in Norway.

Prime Minister Choudry Pervaiz Elahi and his delegation from Punjab in Pakistan were travelling to Norway to celebrate the national day on Saturday, but were refused visa, VG reports.

The Prime Minister is in charge of an area with as many inhabitants as France, but was not allowed to bring his delegation of five people into Norway.

The Norwegian denial is said to have stirred anger amongst the Pakistanis and the Prime Minister has now issued official service passports for his companions to avoid the Norwegian decision.

A number of Norwegian cabinet members will take part in the celebrations and Prime Minister Choudry Pervaiz Elahi is invited as a guest of honour.

«Elahi decided not to travel to Norway as a protest but chose to go after all because of all the preparations made by the organisation that invited him», said a source who is close to Elahi.
