Progress Party wants to approve imams

The Progress Party suggested that Muslim imams, who want to work in Norway, must first be approved by Norwegian authorities.

The suggestion is listed in the party’s notes on the white paper on public safety, which is currently being reviewed by Stortinget’s defense committee, reported the Norwegian television channel NRK.

The Progress Party suggested much stricter security controls of Muslim environments in Norway than current regulations require.

In addition to approving imams, the Progress Party suggests comprehensive surveillance and infiltration of Muslim environments.

«If there are tendencies to extremism, something has to be done,» said Carl I. Hagen, head of the Progress Party, according to NRK. «We must be prepared that what happened in the Netherlands can also happen in Norway.»
