Solberg has stated that he is going to sponsor his brother Henning with several millions Norwegian Krone so that Henning can participate in the World Championship in Rally.

“I have to help out the best I can,” said Solberg to Norwegian paper VG.

“A brother is a brother, and this is his only chance.”

According to information provided the paper, the price tag may be anywhere from one to five million Norwegian Krone (USD 140,000 to 700,000), depending on how many other sponsors chip in.

The contract with one of the biggest World Championship teams is just about done. The only thing missing is the signatures before the brothers become partners in the rally circus.

“We can not confirm what team it is since the contract isn’t signed yet, but we are talking about a slot in one of the cars that has won a World Championship race this season,” said Jim Carlsen, manager. “He will not become one of the two drivers, but he will get the same follow up as them, if everything turns out the way we think and hope.”

About NOK 21 million (USD 3 million) is the price to guarantee Solberg and Cato Menkerud, his map reader, a place in at least seven World Championship rounds. The car plant will pay most of the costs.
