17 of the worlds best rally drivers were stopped when the police in Wales had a control close to one of the runs in Rally Great Britain last year. Four of the drivers lost their license.
Stars like Richard Burns, Carlos Sainz and Colin McRae were fined, while Armin Schwarz, Freddy Loix, Daniel Carlsson and Kris Meeke lost their driving license.
The shakedown area was a nine kilometre long stretch, explained Paul Trotman, a defense lawyer in court Monday, according to ic Wales. Three of the kilometres are on a public road, while the rest is in a wooded area which is not regulated by speeding limits.
The rally stars who lost their license may still participate in World Championships, but they are not allowed to drive on public roads.
