Record year for McDonald's in Norway

McDonald’s writes history in Norway with a record year in 2003 and a growth of almost five percent.

McDonald’s in Norway had a turnover of NOK 1,017 million (USD 150 million) in 2003, an increase of NOK 46.7 million (USD 68.6 million) from 2002 and equals about five percent.

McDonald’s Norge AS had a net result of NOK 49.1 million (USD 7.2 million) in 2003, an improvement of NOK 4.1 million (USD 602,940), equal to 9.1 percent, compared to the year before. The result is the best in the company’s history.

«The jubilee year 2003 was a new success year,» said Theo Holm, CEO in McDonald’s Norge AS in a press release. «In 2004 and the years to come, we will continue this profitable and balanced growth.»

Both in 2002 and 2003, McDonald’s opened three new restaurants in Norway. McDonald’s is going to continue its growth in Norway and is planning to open three more outlets in 2004 as well.

McDonald’s has 65 restaurants in Norway today. 50 of these are franchised while the remaining outlets are owned and operated by McDonald’s Norge AS.
