Norwegians have lost their reluctance to shopping on the Internet, according to experts. Norwegians have already spent more money on the Internet this year than they did the whole of last year.
After years of struggling for the Internet businesses, Norwegians are finally starting to spend money, Dagens Næringsliv reports.
«There is no doubt that a breakthrough in Internet shopping is on its way», said deputy CEO Morten Gulbæk at VISA Norway.
Visa Norway and Europay Norway (Mastercard) are being used for most of Norwegians' buys on the net.
Last year Norwegians bought items and services worth NOK 1.3 billion on the Internet. So far this year that stage is already passed.
«We expect Norwegians to spend three times as much on the Internet this year compared to last year», said Gulbæk.
Competitor Mastercard is just as happy with the development:
«People have lost their reservations, especially towards foreign countries», said Fredheim Høgberg, press officer at Europay Norway.
Games are topping the list of what Norwegians buy via the Internet, followed by travels and tickets for events. The sale of DVDs is increasing as well.
