Terror suspect was a member of Ansar
The Kurd appeared at Stocholms country court together with three another men of foreign heritage Thursday.
The judge claimed there was probably cause to suspect that the four of them were responsible for terror crimes, and they are now held in remand.
The charges have not been released, but according to Swedish media, the police claim that the men carried out or planned terror actions against Americans in Iraq.
«It is a serious accusation against him,» said the 28-year-olds lawyer, Peter Mutveit, to the Norwegian paper Bergens Tidende. «He is not happy about this, and does not take this lightly.»
When the 28-year-old, who originally came from Iraq, lived at the asylum center at Husnes outside Bergen at the end of the 1990s, he was known by the other residents, to be an Islamic fundamentalist.
According to the paper, the man claimed that he was a member of Ansar al-Islam, which formerly was headed by Mullah Krekar.
The Norwegian paper VG wrote that the man lived in Norway between 1999 and 2002, where upon he moved to Språnga outside Stockholm, Sweden.
