Three out of four are on-line

(Nettavisen)
75.4 percent of all Norwegians over the age of 13 have access to the Internet, according to TNS Gallups Intertrack survey of August. Never before has that many people had access to the Web.

The number of people who has access to the Internet is increasing every day. The August survey from TNS Gallup indicates that there have never been more people who have the opportunity to log on.

Vacation from surfing

Even though the number of people accessing the Web has increased it does not correspond to the current trend due to the vacation season. In August, 2.39 million Norwegians were on the Internet at least one time, but compared with the June numbers, this is a decrease of 71,000 users.

According to the survey, just a little more than 1.5 million people use the Internet every day.

The increase in August is mainly due to older users. A third of the inhabitants over the age of 60 now access to the internet, this is an increase of 6 percent compared to July, and the highest number ever registered.

Surfed passed the youth

A total of 2.845 million people say they do not have access to the Internet at home, at work or at school.

The age group 20 to 39 years old has passed the younger group as the most avid Internet users. 81 percent of all the people who surfed on the Net in August were between 20 and 39 years old.
